October 2014

Craig Mongeau - October 2014

The Buffalo Bills are off to a 2-1 start this season, as of press time, of course, so by the time you read this, the season may not be going as well as it was in late September. But with the pending new ownership of the team by the Buffalo Sabres owner and the promise to keep the team where it is, the future appears bright for the team, the brightest since the Jim Kelly-led days of the team. The AFC East is opening up some, with the New England Patriots’ chokehold on the division loosening a little more as Tom Brady gets older. The Jets are well, the Jets, still, and Miami is getting better, yet nothing near the kind of team the Pats have been for more than a decade. The Bills have a chance in the next few years to be the power team in the east.

If you attend the upcoming 20th annual N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo October 15 at the Americraft Center of Progress Building in the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y., you’ll have the chance to see the Bills on us. One lucky winner at this month’s show will be able to see the Bills play the Cleveland Browns on November 30 using two Jim Kelly Club tickets.

At the expo, visitors also can expect more than 125 exhibitors (see page 44 for a comprehensive listing) showcasing all the latest and greatest in equipment and industry services covering more than 75,000 square feet of exhibitor space inside plus an expansive exhibitor display outside.

Plenty of door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, including the Bills tickets and a pair of August 2015 Watkins Glen NASCAR tickets (including two pits passes).

And if all that walking around shopping for equipment makes you hungry, we’ve got that covered with a free barbecue lunch, sponsored by Stadium International Trucks. Tracey Road Equipment, Trux Outfitter, Vantage Equipment LLC and Henderson Truck Equipment.

And finally, if you attend and you’ve been thinking about nominating one of your colleagues (or even yourself) to be profiled in Superintendent’s Profile, the expo is a great and easy place to get that done. Stop by the Profile Publications booth by the front door and simply leave your name and the contact information of the person you’d like to see profiled in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

We look forward to seeing all of you there October 16.
