I think I’ve used this cliché before (so forgive the repetition if I have), but we’ve all heard there’s no such thing as a free lunch.. Well, that’s not always true.

At the N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo, which is just around the corner on Oct. 20 at the Americraft Center of Progress Building at the Syracuse Fairgrounds, there will be a free lunch, with no strings attached, which I think is the basis of the cliché. The only catch is that you have to attend the expo — which is not exactly a chore since attending makes for a nice “day off” and I know many of you enjoy checking out the latest in equipment and service and so on.

When at the show, stop by the following exhibitors to pick up your free lunch ticket: Stadium International Trucks, Stephenson Equipment, Tracey Road Equipment, Trux Outfitter/Fisher Engineering and Vantage Equipment. Lunch will be prepared by the renowned Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, who’ll be cooking up its famous ribs and fixin’s throughout the morning and afternoon.

While you’re eating and strolling the aisles, be sure to keep your ears perked for door prize announcements. Grand prizes this year will be two grandstand tickets to the NASCAR Watkins Glen race in August 2011, including two pit passes. And a pair of Jim Kelly Club tickets to watch the Buffalo Bills take on the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010.
