November 2005

Craig Mongeau - November 2005

Once again, Syracuse truly was not just the center of New York State, but it also was the center of the municipal equipment world.

The 11th Annual NYS Highway & Public Works Expo, held once again at the Verizon Center of Progress Building on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, was an absolute success. Attendance was high during the Oct. 19 show, and the more than 100 exhibitors were kept busy throughout the morning as thousands of highway public works teams from a wide swath of the state stopped by to meet up with friends and visit with vendors.

I won’t risk sounding like one of those hyper-emotional actors who read down a list of people to thank after winning an Academy Award, but I would be remiss, however, if I didn’t use this space to express our gratitude at Superintendent’s Profile to a few people who contributed to this Expo’s success.

First up (but not in any particular order), our thanks go out to Jon Veeder of I.M.U.S. for organizing and officiating another successful and competitive Snowplow Roadeo. (Look for the Expo’s coverage to find out who won!)

We’d also like to thank Bill Nichols, of the New York State Association of Town Superintendents of Highways Inc., who helped us spread the word for the show.

Thank you to all the exhibitors who helped fill the Expo with the latest, greatest equipment and services, transforming the Verizon Center into a virtual one-stop shopping mall.

And most important of all, thank you to all who attended the Expo and participated in the Roadeo. Really, without you, there is no show and no Superintendent’s Profile, and that’s why every day, we steadfastly adhere to the tagline on the cover of the publication, “…New York State’s exclusive magazine to, for, and about our Highway Superintendents and Public Works Officials.”

Look forward to seeing you all again next year on Oct. 18, 2006! P
