Hello, again. Our January/February issue of Superintendent's Profile goes to press before the Holidays, so this is the first time I've gotten back to writing a column since then (it's late February as I write this.)

It's good to be back at this and I'm looking forward to not only communicating with all of you in this space, but also publishing more of your stories in Superintendent's Profile in 2024. I have some good ones coming up in the next couple of months, including this month about Andy Busa and the town of Sullivan. The way Andy's Profile came about was that one of his team members nominated him. We also have another Profile coming up that also started with a nomination.

I tell you this because I will always follow up with a nominated superintendent and if he or she agrees to be profiled, that person can usually expect to see their story published within a few months. So, if you are a crew member, department secretary, spouse, friend, colleague, town board member or are familiar with the good work a particular superintendent and his or her team does for their community and you're reading this, please contact me.

We do positive stories in Superintendent's Profile. As you know, we just simply tell all about the great, important work supers and their crews do. And here's something important to note: not only are Profiles a great professional achievement and a career keepsake, they can be (for those who need to run for re-election) a pretty effective campaign tool. Although we at Superintendent's Profile never endorse a candidate or take sides in an election, we of course acknowledge that a positive story about a superintendent can be used to remind constituents about the work you have done and work you plan to do.

So, I look forward to hopefully hearing from many and receiving your nominations going forward. Superintendent's Profile remains a down-to-earth, community-focused magazine and you can always trust we'll do right by our readers, your communities and your highway and public works departments.
