December 2013
Craig Mongeau - December 2013
We at Superintendent’s Profile again want to thank all of you who attended and exhibited at the 2013 NYS Highway & Public Works Expo in Syracuse in October. The final attendance numbers are in: more than 1,400 of you attended, making this year’s show among the highest attended ones ever. We are very much looking forward to seeing all of you — and maybe more — at next year’s Expo.
We also want to take a moment to congratulate all of you who have won re-election, while expressing our condolences to those of you who did not. Either way, Superintendent’s Profile remains grateful for the hard work and dedication all of you show to your jobs and your communities. Your work is challenging to say the least and too often thankless. Unfortunately, voters don’t always realize this and sometimes as you’re certainly aware, it can come down solely to which political party you represent; it doesn’t mater which one. A lot of voters today vote straight party line, never factoring in the individual accomplishments of the person on the ballot, even if they were to do a little research, they’d find that they agree with the person they’re voting against, just because he or she is a Republican or Democrat. But that’s a pervasive problem these days. That being said, however, congratulations to our new incoming superintendents and commissioners. Good luck on your new jobs.
And finally, we hope you have a happy and healthy holiday season and a safe snowplowing winter.
