August 2004

Craig Mongeau - August 2004

I don’t know about you, but I swear the older I get the faster time seems to go by. It doesn’t feel like we should be only two months away from another N.Y.S. Highway Public Works Expo, yet preparations for the 10th annual show have been under way for months and as of press time, only limited exhibit space remains.

This year’s expo, to be held on October 13, will once again be at the Verizon Center of Progress Building on the N.Y. State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. More than 100 exhibitors already have signed on to exhibit, including Beck Equipment, Bobcat, DeCarolis Heavy Duty Parts, George & Swede, LB Smith, Liftech, Tenco, Tracey Road Equipment and Milton CAT (formerly known as Southworth-Milton.), to name just a few.

And though the white stuff is still a few months away, those of you who want to demonstrate your prowess with a snowplow can, once again, participate in Profile’s prestigious Snowplow Roadeo.

And yes, there’ll again be a slew of door prizes, which we’ll be giving away every 15 minutes. For you gun aficionados out there, you won’t want to miss the expo because we’ll be giving away a 12-gauge Browning semi-automatic “Gold Rifled Deer Hunter” limited edition collector’s gun valued at $1,000. And if you’re a racing fan, you’ll want to attend, too, because a pair of tickets to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Race at Pocono Motor Speedway in June 2005 will be up for grabs. The lucky winner of the prize also will receive a pair of infield tickets and a Pit Row tour.

But for now, sit back and enjoy a Utica Club (if you’re home, of course) and read about Michael Cerminaro, Commissioner of Public Works for the City of Utica.
