2006 N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo

Profile Staff - November 2006

Despite a crippling early October snowstorm in Buffalo (and crews still contending with its aftermath), attendance for the 12th Annual N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo was at an all-time high.

Hundreds of crews from across Upstate New York, including areas near Buffalo, made their way to the Verizon Center of Progress Building at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse on Oct. 18.

More than 120 exhibitors were kept on their toes as crew after crew made their journey around the “streets,” “avenues,” “paths,” and “courts” to learn about the latest in equipment, supplies and services.

As is customary, there were plenty of door prizes awarded during the expo, which ran from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Grand prize winners were Eugene Ingleston, superintendent of highways of the Town of Crown Point, who won two tickets to the Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans game at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Dec. 24, and Tim Coley, civil engineer of the Onondaga County Department of Transportation, who won two grandstand NASCAR tickets, including two pit road passes, to a Watkins Glen race in 2007.

There was an upset in the Snowplow Roadeo competition. With 68 points, the team of Deputy Superintendent Jeff Pritchard and MEO Kevin Crawford of the Town of Bridgewater Highway Department took first place. Two-time defending champs, the Village of Yorkville Highway Department represented by Joe Morosco and John Constas took second place with 49 points. Third place honors went to Keith Blakeslee and Superintendent of Highways Art Logan of the Town of Palatine with 47 points.

As another N.Y.S. Highway & Public Works Expo has gone into the books, we at Profile Publication are already planning for the 13th annual show and Snowplow Roadeo on Oct. 17, 2007. Thank you very much to all who attended and exhibited at this year’s expo. It is always a joy for all of us at Profile Publications to meet with you and to hopefully provide you with a fun diversion from work, if only for a day. We look forward to seeing all of you again next year.
